Lead On Climbing offers activities and classes to get you started and to help
you further your rock skills. We provide professional training by American Mountain Guide Association and Professional Climbing Guides Institute certified instructors, and every function is led by a seasoned climber and educator.
Rock climbing in Ohio includes several well-known areas including Whipp’s Ledges, in Hinckley Reservation, (part of the Cleveland Metropark system), Logtown Quarries, (near Lisbon), and Hocking Hills State Park, (near Logan). Some of the best climbing in the world is right next-door, in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, and West Virginia’s New River Gorge.
Improving your rock climbing knowledge and skill through private guiding can open doors to climbing locally, nearby states, across the country, and around the world. Think about climbing in incredible destinations like Joshua Tree California, Red Rocks Nevada and even El Potrero Chico Mexico (see flickr photo album!).
Start by learning the basics of top-rope climbing, and then expand into sport lead climbing and/or traditional lead climbing. Rappelling can be a sport in itself, and is an important skill that can allow safe access to certain climbing areas (e.g., seaside cliffs), and for retrieving gear at the end of the climb!
